🔗 Ladies and Kens we have a Barbie Trailer
Plus missing White Lotus, and a new IG feature that reminds me of 2007
I am happy to announce to the Gerwig Gang that the Barbie Trailer is out and it IS camp!!! Ryan Gosling said it’s the best script he’s ever read, Margot Robbie says it’s unlike anything you think a Barbie movie would be, and I’m still deeply confused as to how Greta got Noah Baumbach on board without a need to pay for a divorce.
Either way I think Greta has some great work up her sleeves and I will both think this is the goofiest movie ever and maybe cry.
🔗 White Lotus makes me miss life before binging
I am so sad that White Lotus is over, and I've realized how much I've missed the slow drip of weekly TV. White Lotus is more than a show, it's a social event. I had pals over every week, group texts fired up, even swapping theories with my barista the next morning. Binge watching a TV show can't do that for you.
Anyways I am on the hunt for new television, and if you have recommendations I’d love to hear them.
🔗 Some other Lotus Links for you to consume:
☼ Fresh Air featured White Lotus show runner Mike White, really loved it.
☼ Also important to note that Mike White was a contestant on Survivor and this clip feels a lot like me if i was on Survivor.
☼ Finding out Albie’s early acting history through this incredibly cringe clip is perfect.
🔗 Time to update your Top 8
☼ I think the new Instagram status feature is really interesting, and not just in a way for me to beg for attention. In a post-twitter society, we’re going to see a lot of brands just trying stuff. I’m not saying it’s going to be perfect and some of it’s going to be very dumb, but everyone’s getting a real myspace/AIM away messages era here and I think thats SO fun.
🔗 What to Watch this Weekend
☼ I love Drew Barrymore and I fear Ziwe and so this interview is perfect for me.
☼ Loving Caroline Polachek’s new music video for Welcome to my Island, which makes me wish I was a little weirder — and makes me wish the tickets to her show weren’t $150.
☼ Last night I rewatched After Yang, which feels like a great antidote to all the noise that AI is making this month. A beautiful story of grief and humanity through the lens of a family that loss an AI companion. Watch the trailer on Youtube, and you can stream it on Paramount+, Showtime, or rent on Apple TV.
The soundtrack is also lovely to work to.
