Oscar nominations are IN, and boy am I happy to be here. Allison Willams (star of M3gan, and singer of Yeβs Stronger) and Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal) presented Oscar nominations before I was even strong enough to remove myself from bed this morning.

π Judβs Oscar Hopefuls
Everything Everywhere All at Once
I am most excited for Everything Everywhere All At Once, which I was unsure if it would still stick in voters mind after being released in April, has racked up 11 nominations, the most of any film. I would love love love for EEAO to sweep, but tempering my expectations.
Paul Mescal
I havenβt had the chance to watch Aftersun yet because I invited some friends to come over and watch a screening of it, and my friends instead wanted to talk about dating apps for two hours and we missed the time window to watch it and iβm still bitter about it.
However I love Paul Mescal: I still can slam through Normal People in one sitting for a good cry and I canβt wait to listen to Phoebe Bridgers sing about breaking up with Paul, then waking up weeks later to see heβs nominated for Best Actor.
π‘ Judβs Snubs
Mamma Mia should have been nominated for best picture even though it was released in 2008.
I had really hoped for some awards for NOPE this year β I think the thriller/horror category really limits a lot of voters interest, but Jordan Peele has so much to give and I think think itβs one of his most accessible, fun films. and of course, Keke Palmer.
π¦ΉββοΈ This Years Oscar Villain
Austin Butlerβs fake Elvis accent is going to mysteriously disappear within 24 hours of the oscars ending, I just know it. Frankly, Iβm just worn out by biopicβs exclusively designed to net awardsβ Elvis is no exception. Though I love and appreciate Baz Luhrmannβs dedication to maximalism, Iβm getting tired and Iβm going to be bummed if Elvis takes home more than it deserves.
Blonde was definitively bad and Ana de Armas getting a best actress nomination does not make any sense IMO. Iβm sorry!
Unfortunately I am insufferable, so please stay tuned for more Oscar coverage to come. Maybe Iβll make a special π Links edition Oscar Ballot?
