Some quick news. Although this newsletter is about LINKS for you to read, today i have one of my own! After 7 years of working together at enterprise startups like Loom and Intercom, Stewart Scott-Curran and I are cutting out on our own and have started our own brand studio, Design Business Company.
I’m nervous, excited, super scared but ready to have a lot of fun. I won’t be chatting about this much here, but if you are interested in some more serious Design Content ™, Stew and I are co-penning a newsletter called Some Personal News, which is a more intimate look on building a company in this climate.
We are also, open to clients, of course, so if you have any leads they are always welcome.
🔗 Succession and Yellowjackets are BACK
Succession is back for its final season, and it feels like maybe this is a good time to call it. The reviews for the final season are extremely strong. But this tweet got me. Art imitates life, and maybe the succession cast is ready to get out of Jeremy Strongs press cycle.
Yellowjackets S2 is also back and I can’t wait to see what crimes christina ricci inevitably kill elijah wood.
🔗 New Music coming thru baby!!!
Spring is here, it’s 65° out today and the playlists are piling in. Wanted to drop some music i’ve been listening to:
• Boyhood by The Japanese House is the song of the spring for me.
• Not Strong Enough by boygenius is coming in at a close second.
• New Lana Del Rey album is out, obsessed the concept that she has song titles so long they exceed the spotify character count limit.
• Loving this new track Bad Habits from my music work wife Mandi, who produced my 1 hit wonder cut the line.
🔗 The Romy Mars Tiktok is culture
Here’s what u need to know: Romy Mars (Sofia Coppola and Roman Mars of the band Pheonix’s daughter) recorded a tiktok with an anonymous account hoping to vent, but made the mistake of telling everyone her parents were famous and she was grounded for, and i wish i were joking, “chartering a helicopter on her dad’s credit card to go visit her camp friend“. What follows, is pure, unadulterated culture. Romy has since taken it down but the internet does not forget.
this tiktok has everything: nepo babys, cooking lessons, the babysitters boyfriend Ari who looks like he’s just there to have a nice day and apparently has a phd in ancient philosophy.
The tiktok itself was briefly listed as Romy’s directorial debut on letterboxd.
🐶 Crema Pupdate: We’re WALKING
Something that I would have hoped someone told me before i got a puppy is that you need to wait until your dog is 16 weeks old (and a litany of shots) before you can safely take them into a public space. given the fact that i’ve been in a 600 sq ft apartment and more energy than i’ve ever had ever, the last few months have been… challenging.
But yesterday i took crema out for her first walk, and girlie took a 4 hour nap. So proud. Combined with less corporate work schedule, we’re headed into a much chiller, less chaotic season which feels amazing.
